BALIKLI GREEK HOSPITAL

Conceived as a dedicated eldercare facility, this contemporary addition to the historic premises of the Balıklı Greek Hospital in Istanbul thoughtfully navigates the campus's rich, monumental heritage. Our architectural approach, developed in collaboration with architect İlhami KURT, focused on creating a sensitive dialogue between the old and the new—introducing modern, highly functional living spaces without overshadowing the established historical fabric. The design prioritizes the holistic well-being of its senior residents by maximizing natural daylight, ensuring seamless physical accessibility, and integrating tranquil, human-scaled communal areas. Ultimately, this new wing functions as a therapeutic, compassionate environment that honors its deep cultural context while providing a dignified, progressive space tailored specifically for elderly accommodation.
